Polish Nationwide Statistical Competition
The Polish Nationwide Statistical Competition, which patron is President of the Central Statistical Office, has been organised since 1968 by the Central Statistical Library in Warsaw for secondary school students.
In 2018 takes place the 47 th edition of this competition.It wasn`t organised just since 1973 till 1976.
Aim of the competition is to develop statistical skills and knowledge of school children, which is got with help of „Concise Statistical Yearbook of Poland”at school during statistical lessons, maths, geography etc...
Since 1968 till 1972 and since 1977 till 2004 secondary school students answered questions of competitions questionnaire, which concern data from „Concise Statistical Yearbook of Poland”.
In 2004 presidium of Central Statistical Office decided that the formula of the competition had to be changed.
They wanted to make it more interesting for secondary school students.It had to promote not only knowledge but also some skills like : abilities of independent thinking, ingenuity etc...The task of the competition consist in study one of three given subjects using informations from „Concise Statistical Yearbook of Poland”.
In accordance with regulations of the competition competitors had two months to work out this tasks (March-April).
Jury competent by President of the Central Statistical Office Ph.D Dominik Rozkrut and Director of the Central Statistical Library -Ms.Bożena Łazowska, will assess works to the end of September.
The jury will assess first of all: the interpretations, originality of the task, statistical skills, contents arragement and the way of ussing „Consice Statistical Yearbook of Poland”.
In our opinion this kind of the Polish Nationwide Statistical Competition is a great form of statistical promotion.
